Youth Counselling

The ages between 15 to 24 years old can be a challenging time.
Besides developmental transitions such as puberty, youths today may face challenges and pressure from their home, school and work environment, social media and themselves, such as issues relating to self-esteem, self-identity, independence, body image, and relationship, etc.
These pressures are real and cause various effects on their body and mental health, such as headaches, sweaty palms, feeling nervous and distracted. It can also lead to feelings of burnt out, guilt, lack of motivation, anxiety, depression or suicidal behaviour.

As a counsellor, teacher and mother of three, Janet can relate to the desires and struggles of many youths in Singapore. Clients especially appreciate Janet's empathetic listening ear, non-judgmental guidance, and ability to help them understand their issues from a new perspective that facilitates change and growth.
By collaborating to identify and build upon your unique strengths and resources, and equipping you with new skills and strategies, Janet can help you to adapt and thrive in spite of your challenges.
If you are a parent/guardian or an adolescent (below 16 years old) looking for counselling services, please read our FAQs for more information.

Alleviate Stress, Fear, Anxiety, Depression
Negative past experiences, prolonged stress and problems from our everyday life can cause us to feel overwhelmed, angry, fearful, isolated, helpless and hopeless.
This can disrupt our daily functioning and affect our livelihood and relationships. As a result, we might avoid situations or people which make us feel uncomfortable or threatened, or perhaps engage in activities to distract ourselves — but this may not be wise or possible all the time. Over time, it can also lead to feelings of loneliness, anxiety, fear and depression.
Instead, working through your issues with Janet can help you to gain new insights, feel better and calmer, and learn practical life skills to cope and improve your quality of life.

Repair & Improve Relationships
Seeking help early from a professional counsellor to work through anger, conflicts, communication and relationship issues can help you to rebuild and create meaningful connections in your life.
Married for more than 20 years and a mother of 3 children herself, Janet has experience counselling clients with issues relating to parenting, dating, marital disagreements, domestic violence, divorce, and living with elderly parents.
With your overall well-being in mind, Janet can help you to identify and work through your relationship issues to move forward, with dignity, hope and purpose.
